Monitored
Home Security - Do I Really Need It? lowes home security systems.
By andyj00 Monitored home security
is when you, the homeowner, have a contract with a security monitoring
company that will monitor and respond when your alarm is triggered.
It may be triggered by a burglar breaking into your property or
you may have a panic button that will alert the monitoring company.
Additionally, more sophisticated alarm systems than alowes home
security system may have either smoke detectors or carbon monoxide
detectors which, when triggered, will alert the monitoring company.
The company will call out the most appropriate emergency service
for your needs.
So how does the monitoring company know that your alarm has been triggered? Your alarm system is connected to your phone line so the company is dialled as soon as is required. In case your phone line gets cut, some systems fall back to an alternative method of dialling such as a cell phone so you can always guarantee the monitoring company will be contacted if required.
But why do I need monitored security? Look at the scenario where you are not at home and you are being burgled, who will alert the authorities to attend the break-in? You could hope a passer by or neighbor may contact them but you cannot be sure they will. Often others don't
want to get involved if they hear a home alarm siren as they may fear for their own safety. The one and only time you want the authorities to be called and you cannot guarantee that they will be - unless you have monitored home security.
With monitored home security you are connected 24 hours a day to a fully manned alarm monitoring center. So you can be rest assured that if you are asleep at night or you are away from your property, maybe on vacation, that help will arrive very quickly if the unfortunate happens. The monitoring center will know exactly what triggered your alarm, either a burglary attempt or fire breaking out etc.. and will send the appropriate emergency service to your property straight away.
Apparently, research shows that 1 in 10 alarm siren activations are reported to the police and most police forces will not now respond to an alarm siren bell unless there is additional confirmation that a crime is in progress.
If you had a medical emergency it is peace of mind to know that one press of your panic/medical button will have medical assistance on its way. This is ideal for the elderly where they may get confused or scared dealing with a medical emergency.
