A Quality Home Security Door Helps Keep Your Home Safe
By Franklyn Austin
Crime is everywhere, even in rural areas. Yet it's surprising how many people still leave their doors unlocked, or have poor quality doors. When it comes to increasing your home's security, the door is the first line of defense. For their strength and durability, a home security door is a savvy investment in your family's safety.

What to Look For in a home security Door

Don't use lightweight hollow core doors or doors made from soft pine wood. Look for doors made of steel metal or hardwoods like oak. You want a door that can withstand hard kicking or other heavy force. Choose hardened steel locks that can resist drilling or cutting, with deadbolts measuring at least 1" - 1 1/2". Check out the new "bump-resistant" locks for increased security. If key security is a problem, look into combination deadbolts, or card key locks. You can now buy biometric

locks that scan your fingerprint to unlock the door. Lost keys can become a problem of the past.

A home security door should also have a wide angle viewer, or "peephole" enabling one to see who is outside. You can also buy decorative metal grilles to enhance your door's security. When installing your new door, make sure that there are no gaps between the Home Security door and the frame that might allow a crook to pry the door or spread the frame and cut the deadbolt or hinges. Your door should have sensors attached to it that connect to your home's security alarm system.

Check all your home's exit doors. Nowdays, thieves and crooks target your garage or side doors to break into. Weak locks and hollow core doors are no protection. Invest in well made Home Security doors for you and your family's safety. And please don't leave the doors unlocked!
